I decided I wanted to try this image out in B&W. This actually is a fraction of a second after my earlier posting. How do you like the conversion? Do you find it more dramatic or less?

Not the most balanced composition here, but I was moving quickly as the light was fading pretty fast. Taken almost 30 minutes after the sun had set and with a 30 second exposure. I didn't have much time to really dial in the exposure, but I think this depicts the mood and the light quite well..

The US Bank Tower in downtown Portland. I'm not sure which architecht dreamed up a giant, pink monolith in the bottom of downtown, but it's been one of my favorite Portland buildings for years.

I also shot this building a while ago with my Holga and Polaroid back, from a nearby rooftop. This one was taken at street level with my Diana+.

Shot of Stefanie Woods during November's PDXStrobist meet-up. A sitting Stefanie was surrounded by a strand of Christmas lights that were magically turned into stars with a LensBaby drop-in star shaped aperture disk. Every point of light that is out of focus gets turned into the shape of the aperture - the further out of focus the larger the shape.

I have loved this image of Zeb's ever since he first posted it, and it inspired me to take my own pinhole out to a couple of playgrounds. This image is similar to his, and yet different enough for me... I'm still not sure what the super-bright streaks are. They can't all be the sun, because they wouldn't be on both the right and the left, correct? Maybe they are just where the sunlight was glinting through the trees particularly strongly. Who knows; I just like the effect. That, and the glowing orb right smack in the middle.

For this shot I was basically lying back in the swing, nearly horizontal, with my pinhole held tightly against my torso and pointed straight up. I think it was about a twenty second exposure. Sometime after this image, I took this one on the merry-go-round.

I also added a bit of a yellow glow; it seemed appropriate. I'm not sure the hue is perfect, but it looks nice next to the previous, very "blue" shot that I just posted of Martha Falls. :-)

Yesterday I spent about an hour in Pier Park, half of that time at the playground. There is a wonderful blue and red merry-go-round there and I tried a few swing shots, too. Can't wait to see if any of them turned out. Of course, seeing as how I need to finish that roll of film yet, it's going to be a while. So don't hold your breaths...

Fogged in sunrise on the east bank of Portland's waterfront. I wasn't able to see across the Willamette until a little after sunrise.

Rocky Butte did it again. I missed the sunrise this time (Mondays) but the show only got better as the sunlight illuminated the low layer of fog.

This is on the dark side but it was taken about 10-15 minutes after the sun had set, and this is pretty much the way the scene looked when I captured it.

We were actually just talking about packing up and leaving when I looked over my shoulder and saw the sky starting to turn. I had actually given up on the sunset altogether, as it really didn't look like it would amount to anything.

On a side note, the whole 2 hours we were hanging around this spot, the coast guard helicopter was flying around in search of a man that was swept out to sea just down the beach from here... It's a very tragic incident that seem to always repeat itself along the Oregon coast during this time of year. Here is a link to the article:

It seems like there are so many things going on in my life right now and I’m having a difficult time concentrating. I have a ton of things on my plate and I think it’s only going to get worse. Don’t worry I’m not complaining…life’s all good here! I’m just saying if my photos seem kinda random lately, and I’m not doing a lot of Flickr Group Roulette stuff it’s because my thoughts are kinda scattered.
